The name "Koor" itself is a tribute to Armenian riverboat craftsmanship and wine merchantry, drawing inspiration from ancient times. As the historian Herodotus recounts in his "Histories" (Chapter 194), Armenian merchants embarked on journeys from Armenia to Babylon. These intrepid traders utilized boats crafted from wood and animal hides, laden with wine in palm-wood casks. Upon reaching Babylon, they would sell not only the wine but also the boat's wood, load the animal skins onto donkeys, and make their way back to Armenia, following the banks of the river. This wine aims to connect the present with these rich traditions, offering an excellent Armenian wine crafted from indigenous grape varieties grown in the high-elevation vineyards of the Vayots Dzor region. It is a celebration of heritage, hand-harvested and hand-crafted for a truly authentic experience.
The robust structure and fruity notes of the Koor wine complement the richness of the lamb and the aromatic herbs.
The wine's subtle minerality and balanced acidity cut through the creamy sauce, while its fruitiness harmonizes with the mushrooms.
The wine's freshness and slight tannicity can balance the savory notes of the mussels and the garlic-parsley seasoning.
